I think sticky rice is the more fun, vivacious sister than the plain old rice. I’m bias, because I associate sticky rice as snacks and junk food growing up, although, it’s still considered as a full meal. Sticky rice are served 2 ways: savory with different types of meat or sweet with different types of beans or with coconut shavings. At this restaurant, they serve many savory versions and also, serve different types of iced sweet soup desserts. I’ve tried 3 versions: Xôi Trộn Bùi Thị Xuân (restaurant’s version), Xôi Thập Cẩm (combination sticky rice) and Xôi Gà – đùi (fried chicken thigh). The restaurant’s version is sticky rice premixed with their special sauce, mushrooms, Vietnamese sausages and shredded chicken. The combination plate comes with a mixture of toppings like julienned pork patties, pork floss, dried shrimps, deep fried shrimp, and slices of stewed pork. The chicken plate is gigantic and juicy and topped with crunchy fried shallots, toasted peanuts, chopped green onions, and a little dash of sweet soy sauce.

Try Chè Thập Cẩm (combination of tapioca balls and fruits) and Sâm Bổ Lượng (Chinese origin: a mixture of lotus seeds, Job’s tears, dried longans, and julienned seaweeds). Let me know if you tried other types of desserts and how you liked them! [/box]
